Northeastern University is committed to the professional growth and advancement of its faculty. The demands on tenure track faculty in research, teaching, and service are significant. The faculty mentoring program consists of a combination of university wide, college, and department specific activities designed to guide faculty through the tenure track process.
Tenure and Promotion: The 3rd Year Review February 19 from noon - 1:30 pm, Room TBA. A workshop for faculty in their first few years at Northeastern and before their mid term review.
Wine and Cheese Reception as an end of the semester get together. April 15 from 4pm - 5:30 pm. Room TBA.
CAREER Proposal Writing Workshop April 21 9:00 am - 1:00 pm. Raytheon Amphitheater. Topics include: elements of a successful proposal, integrating research and education, and responding to reviewer comments. The 2008 agenda is available.
Fall Luncheon Tuesday, October 21 from noon - 1:30 pm in Alumni Pavilion. The program focus will be on institutional support services. There will be an opportunity for a dialogue with individuals from Research Development, Foundations and Corporations, Sponsored Projects, Academic Computing, and Teaching support services. Assistant Professor Ratilal Honored at White House with a Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE) This is the nation's highest honor for professionals at the outset of their independent scientific research careers.
Assistant Professor Tucker J. Marion of the School of Technological Entrepreneurship (STE) has just been named as a recipient of Dell's Design Educator Award. The reward is a result of efforts in 'Managing a Technology-Based Business,' a core course of STE's Masters program. Team-based projects work on conceptual design and development of systems. They are given a budget and managed outside industrial designers, simulating the start-up environment. The spirit of the project competition will continue next year in STE's Product Development class which will include collaboration with Mass Art.
Antonio Ocampo-Guzman, who joined the faculty in the Department of Theatre in 2007, directed a production of Tennessee William's last play -- The One Exception -- for the 2nd Annual Provincetown Tennessee Williams Theatre Festival.
